“Theoretical Theatre made me laugh, and then think about the differences between the theories”. This is just one response from our students this year, after seeing a live performance of the ‘Sustainable Consumption‘ performance. (big thanks to all the students for permission to post their photos!)
Theoretical Theatre is all about finding creative ways for students to engage with material that can sometimes be dry, abstract or complex. By presenting concepts as characters, the material becomes relate-able and personified, and students really find this useful in getting to grips with intellectual theoretical debates.
Here are some more of their responses – we asked students to tell us how they reacted to Theoretical Theatre, and then to tell us which of the four theories they most liked, and why – and all of these were made more entertaining with the use of a selfie station.
